Through oral history interviews, Rob Sullivan researched and developed a play about Susan Franklin Tanner’s 5-year infertility journey. The play was intended to end with Tanner’s inability to conceive a child, but during the writing process she became pregnant and the ending changed. Tanner performed the play when she was 8 ½ months pregnant.
Through humor and drama, the play revealed the dreams and sorrows of people affected by infertility and offered hope to those who despair.
