Shortly after 9/11, Sequoyah School teachers were encouraged to respond to the events surrounding the attack through classroom and specialist curriculum. Susan Franklin Tanner launched a multi-age project that provided interested students with an opportunity to create a performance piece that reflected their thoughts and feelings about the events leading up to, during, and after the attack. Studying the history, geography, and religion of the Muslim people put a human face on the alleged enemy and broadened the students’ understanding of world issues.
