Arts Community Network, Individual Artist Grant

No Word in Guyanese for Me

Funded by Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission, the Pasadena Cultural Affairs Division, Los Angeles Unified School District

The Project

No Word in Guyanese for Me

No Word in Guyanese for Me

No Word in Guyanese for Me focuses on Hanna, a gay, immigrant young Muslim woman, as she struggles for social and familial acceptance in post 9/11 America. Susan Franklin Tanner received an Individual Artist grant to produce the play for the public.

The production featured one professional actor and a small ensemble of student actors/dancers. The play provided a powerful jumping-off point for dialogue during the Second Act discussion with the audience.
