The Leader

Students in the 5th-6th grade equivalent classes wanted to do a play that satirized newly elected President Donald Trump. Tanner chose The Leader, by Eugene Ionesco about the corruption and mindless leadership of a society. The Leader character was a headless puppet with a huge red tie. We were instructed to change the color of the red tie because it might offend any Trump supporters, so we made it polka-dot.
