“We are thrilled to be a recipient of the LA Arts Recovery Fund Grant,” said TheatreWorkers Project Founder/Director Susie Tanner.
As one of 90 nonprofits receiving grants, we are excited to continue serving our community and contributing to the rich cultural fabric and economic recovery of LA County! Receiving the grant will enable TheatreWorkers Project to increase staff diversity by training and hiring emerging BIPOC teaching artists and administrative assistants.
Grant funds will also support our reentry programming, serving university students impacted by incarceration, through a collaboration with Cal State LA’s Project Rebound program. Robert Ortiz Archila, Project Rebound’s Outreach Coordinator said “Lack of awareness has driven formerly incarcerated students away from pursuing an academic curriculum in the arts. A partnership between TheatreWorkers Project and Project Rebound would fill this void and provide these students with equitable access to programming and the arts in higher education.”
