Whitney Wakimoto, Graphic Artist, has a BFA in Acting from the University of Montana, and an MFA in Acting from The Old Globe Theatre/University of San Diego. Starting in 2016, Whitney had the honor of working in LAC, California Institution for Men (CIM) and California Rehabilitation Center through the Strindberg Laboratory.
Whitney has also been teaching Education Based Incarceration (EBI) in the Men’s Central Jail (MCJ) and Century Regional Detention Facility (for women) with ongoing weekly classes in collaboration with Strindberg and 5 Keys Charter. She has worked with the TheatreWorkers Project at Dads Back! Academy and on the “A” Yard at California State Prison, Los Angeles County-Lancaster (LAC). She co-facilitates a weekly anger management through improvisation class, “Act It Out,” at Homeboy Industries in collaboration with the Advot Project teaching “Relationships 101,” a course that explores communication and healthy relationships through theatre arts. Whitney completed 16 hours of training with Arts in Corrections mentor Leah Joki and was a co-writer and performer in Women in Blue about four incarcerated mothers in the South.
