Support for TWP in 2023

We’re excited to share that under a fiscal sponsorship by Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA, we received increased funding from the California Arts Council (CAC), the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), and the County of Los Angeles. Such funding includes a General Operating Support grant, allowing us to expand and diversify our staff and provide small administrative salary increases.

We’ve received further support through a CDCR RIGHT grant, which will be used over three years to fund operating expenses related to our in-prison programs. This grant has augmented our Theatre Inside program serving the men at California State Prison-LA County/Lancaster and expanded our programming to 2 yards.

We secured a second year of our Arts in Corrections Equity, Decarceration, and Transformative Justice Training contract. This funding will provide training for prison arts providers delivered almost exclusively by presenters with lived experience and those impacted by the justice system.

Other funding in 2023 came from the CAC in the form of two grants:

We also received multiple arts partnership grants with The Francisco Homes, which supported and expanded our LIFER: Stories from the Inside/Out program.

We thank you for believing in our mission and supporting our work. Here’s to an exciting and creative 2024!
