In partnership with The Francisco Homes and Project Rebound/LA (PRLA), TWP led paroled Lifers and formerly incarcerated students in the creation and performance of three projects:
- GIFTS – performed by the Lifers at Jail Guitar Doors CAPO Center and Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA)
- UNMASKED – presented as part of Noise Now at A Noise Within in Pasadena
- A Melody of Our Own – an audio production written and performed by PRLA students
Through collaborations with incarcerated residents at California State Prison-Lancaster, we collaboratively created and proudly presented two productions, The Tree of Life and STAND!
TheatreWorkers Project is proud to share that Susie Tanner was awarded an LA County Performing Arts Recovery Individual Artist Grant. This grant is funding her collaboration with TWP artists Marlene McCurtis and Alexa Kershner, as well as eight system-impacted actors, to create a filmed performance piece based on the script of STAND! The film will premiere in June 2024.
