The Workshop & Performance
“The Circle” was written by nine men during a 10-week theatre workshop at the California State Prison in Los Angeles County. The workshop was part of TheatreWorkers Project’s Arts in Corrections program.
When all California prisons shut down due to COVID-19, the men were in the middle of the workshop. Unfortunately, they could not perform their work in front of a live audience.
Instead, five actors from the Project Re/Frame Ensemble, a theatrical group of formerly incarcerated individuals, brought their words to life in a visual performance piece. It was filmed on-location and aired via Zoom.
Thank you!
